The Roubials farm, the Agly pig

One year of training at the Maison des Métiers et de la Crafts de Prades as manager of an agricultural company specializing in livestock farming and Romain settled in 2021 at a place called Roubials (hence the name of the farm) as a pig breeder . On 7 hectares in Estagel, he now lives from his passion. At his side, his wife Doriane practices the art of soap making. “We are happy to promote the territory”boasts Romain.

Romain’s estate covers old vines, scrubland and woods. On his routes, he built shelters for his animals. “Pigs come in and out when they want”, he points out. Although abandoned, the vines require conversion to organic. Romain’s breeding will therefore be certified in November 2022.

Romain, a former carpenter, was passionate about breeding. He made it his job

This does not prevent him from buying his organic piglets in Aveyron, while waiting to give birth himself. Three sows will give birth shortly. Romain chose to breed large white pietrain pink pigs crossed with duroc. He now owns about fifty animals. The transformation of its meat was entrusted to the workshop of Couiza and to a butcher of Quillan in the Aude. Rillettes, sausage, etc. everything is good in the pig.

To taste the meat from the Roubials farm, several solutions:
