Andrea Kroppus: A Passionate Equestrian Leader
Andrea Kroppus has made remarkable strides in the world of Western riding, particularly at European Championships. Based in Hansing, she is not only driven by her performance goals but also prioritizes the welfare of her equine companions. “With me, the horse has the final say. I believe in a partnership, not in coercion,” she expresses.
Discovering RYL Ranch
As you approach the horse farm nestled in St. Johann, you might wonder if you’ve taken a wrong turn. The road ends at the quaint village of Sichersdorf, where many assume nothing of interest lies ahead. Yet, following the gravel path leads you to the inviting RYL Ranch. “We welcome anyone who has a passion for horses and shows empathy, regardless of age,” shares Kroppus, who has dedicated over a decade to nurturing this haven for horse lovers.
At RYL Ranch, Kroppus aims to create a sanctuary for individuals exploring their relationship with horses. With her own trained and raised horses, she guides animal enthusiasts in discovering their unique journey. “This stable is a place for relaxation and exploration. In a world that can be overwhelming, I want people to find solace and clarity here,” she adds with a warm smile.
Kroppus has always aspired to run her own breeding program, and she has also fulfilled her dream of competing in sports. Western riding has become her true passion, and she has achieved notable successes, including a bronze medal in the ‘Ranch Rail’ discipline at the European Championships held in Germany from August 17 to 25. Her accolades also include two EWU horse performance medals and multiple ‘Allaround Champion’ titles.
Commitment to Fairness and Teamwork
While Kroppus is indeed performance-driven, she emphasizes the importance of treating her horse with fairness and respect. “It’s not about winning trophies or ribbons—those can be bought. What truly matters is the bond you share with your horse,” she explains. She believes that riding should be a collaborative effort: “Sometimes, my plans and the horse’s needs don’t align, and it’s crucial to adapt. Riding is a team sport where ego has no place.”
Kroppus is adamant about never jeopardizing her horse’s physical or emotional well-being for personal gain. “Riding is a demanding sport; often the signs of stress in a horse go unnoticed. A well-prepared horse feels secure, and establishing a strong connection with your partner is essential,” she notes. Her perspective has evolved significantly over the years. “I realize now that I would approach certain situations differently. While I can’t change the past, I can focus on making a positive impact today and for the future,” she reflects.
One of her aspirations is to participate in the Americana 2025, Europe’s largest Western riding sports fair. “This is a significant dream for me, and my horse and I still have some work to do to get there,” she concludes.
