The Rocket reveals its captain

Friday, the Laval Rocket revealed the identity of the player who will succeed Gabriel Bourque as captain of the Montreal Canadiens farm club in the American Hockey League.

It will be the robust forward Lucas Condotta, a 26-year-old veteran who will be in his third full season with the Rocket.

“With a young group this season, it will be a big responsibility. I can’t wait,” reacted the main person concerned.

Condotta also says he wants to improve his French, something which will be easier if he works with Logan Mailloux.

“He’s pretty good at French, huh? The only problem is that he is a little embarrassed, but his French is not a problem,” praised Condotta.

Although being named captain is an honor, it is often the kiss of death in the AHL, as the prospects of a call-up to the big club appear less bright.

Condotta was entitled to three games with CH last season. The year before, he scored a goal in his first National League game.

The Georgetown, Ontario native has 19 points, including eight goals, in 65 games with the Rocket in 2023-2024.
