Despite their efforts, the Laval Rocket had to admit defeat with a score of 4 to 1, Thursday evening, against the Senators in Belleville.
Towards the end of the first period, goalkeeper Jakub Dobes gave up twice in just over three minutes. The visitors were unable to recover afterwards.
Jacob Larsson first completed a sequence prepared by Roby Jarventie and Matthew Highmore. The latter then capitalized on the numerical advantage by scoring his fifth goal of the campaign.
There wasn’t even five minutes to play in the second period when Josh Currie found the back of the net.
Laval subsequently attempted a comeback. Jean-François Houle’s team dominated the period in terms of shots on goal with 14 to 6.
After buzzing, the visitors reduced the gap at the end of the period, with a numerical advantage. Striker Emil Heineman scored his second goal of the campaign. Arber Xhekaj and Sean Farrell collected an assist in the sequence.
However, 23-year-old goalkeeper Mads Sogaard did not give up anything afterwards to allow the Senators to win.
Jarventie finished the job by scoring in an empty cage.
In the victory, Quebecer Maxence Guenette stood out with two assists. The 22-year-old defenseman has scored 21 points in 28 games this season.
The Rocket players will have the opportunity to get back up quickly. They will resume action Friday evening in front of their fans, while Le Crunch de Syracuse will be visiting Place Bell, in Laval.
