The National Rally will file an appeal before the Constitutional Council to contest the vote in the senatorial elections in Moselle, franceinfo learned on Tuesday from an RN executive.

According to the National Rally, the vote is tainted by irregularity and must be invalidated. “We decided today to file an appeal which will be brought by our candidate”assures this RN executive.

12 votes separate the Horizons and RN lists

The RN contests the presence of the name of Edouard Philippe on the Horizons list bulletin, while the former Prime Minister was not a direct candidate in this election. At the end of the vote on Sunday, 12 votes separated the two lists. In Moselle, the Horizons list entitled “Anne Boucher, the Moselle with Edouard Philippe”, obtained 287 votes, ahead of that carried by the RN “In the service of the communes to defend the Moselle”, credited with 275 votes. Neither list obtained a seat.

Sunday in Moselle, the “Senatorial Majority” (LR) list, led by Jean-Marie Mizzon, obtained 3 seats with 868 votes, the Union of the left “Au service de la Moselle”, led by Michaël Weber, won 1 seat with 364 votes, and “Let’s take the side of Moselle!” (DVD), led by Christine Herzog, obtained 1 seat with 330 votes.
