Olivier Faure, MP and First Secretary of the Socialist Party, was the guest of “4 Vérités” on France 2, Friday May 17.

For several days, New Caledonia has been in the grip of violent riots, which left five dead, including two police officers. “It’s the story of an incendiary government that throws matches on the gasoline can and then shouts fire, hoping that no one will take responsibility”reacted Olivier Faure in “4 Vérités” on France 2, Friday May 17. “This government pushed through a project that had not been adopted by the Congress of New Caledonia”said the MP and First Secretary of the Socialist Party. “In this territory, nothing is possible without dialogue”he added.

The news of the week is also marked by the fatal attack on a van, Tuesday May 14, in Eure. Two prison officers were killed and three others were seriously injured. The situation experienced by prison staff is “intolerable”lamented Olivier Faure. “Additional resources are needed, it is not normal that these personnel today do not have their security assured, nor the weaponry, nor the armoring”he continued.

Three weeks before the European elections, the National Rally is still well ahead in the polls. “The RN is a xenophobic party which has no solution and no credibility”tackled the socialist deputy. “Since the beginning, this party has always tried to fan the embers, but has never provided any solution”insisted Olivier Faure.
