The National Rally submitted its bill to the National Assembly on Wednesday, September 11, to repeal the pension reform, franceinfo learned from parliamentary sources. The text is to be examined in the chamber on October 31, as part of the RN’s “parliamentary niche” during which the group can put its proposals up for discussion.
The party had raised the issue of repealing the pension reform during the early legislative election campaign last June. Jordan Bardella, then a candidate for Prime Minister, had stated that the repeal would be scheduled for the fall. The objective defended by the National Rally is to retire at 62 years of age at the most, rather than 64 today, with 42 years of contributions.
Marine Le Pen also proposed a retirement age of 60 for long careers, those who started working before the age of 20, subject to a certain number of quarters of contributions. Except that this system seems very close, in fact, to what already exists today. Employees who started working at 18 can in fact retire at 60 if they have contributed at least 171 or 172 quarters depending on their year of birth.
