Joseph Martin, candidate for the legislative elections in Morbihan under the National Rally label, was suspended by his party after a message on social networks in 2018. The principal defended himself from any anti-Semitism on Thursday June 20.

“Gas brought justice to the victims of the Shoah”wrote on October 22, 2018 the candidate for the first constituency of Morbihan, in a message on the social network Twitter, now X, spotted by the newspaper Release.

Joseph Martin assured that his message had no anti-Semitic character, quite the contrary. According to him, this tweet was a reaction to the death of far-right figure Robert Faurisson, who denied the existence of the Jewish genocide by the Nazis and the existence of gas chambers. “My tweet was to defend the Jews against all the ideas that this man had vomited”he told AFP, “a form of respect towards all the victims of the Shoah and all the Jews who are martyred everywhere”.

Joseph Martin defends himself from any anti-Semitic thought and highlights “Jewish friends” that he has “makes you join the RN” as well as “five or six candidates of Jewish faith” who appeared on his list when he was a candidate in the municipal elections in Poissy (Yvelines). The retiree deplored that this message, deleted Wednesday at midday, was according to him “taken out of context”. “We are harming my honor. We are harming my family”he said, announcing his intention to file a complaint against Release and the journalist who had reported the existence of the message.
