“The risk of a Chernobyl-type nuclear accident has become a permanent threat”, warns a researcher

“The risk of a civil nuclear problem, of an accident in particular at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant” became “permanent” in Ukraine, alert Wednesday, October 26 on franceinfo Édouard Jolly, researcher in theory of armed conflict and philosophy of war at the Institute for Strategic Research of the Military School. This specialist explains that the Ukrainian workers had difficulty accessing the facilities of the largest power plant in Europe, located in southern Ukraine. Since March, the Zaporijjia power plant, occupied by Russian forces, has regularly been the victim of bombardments and power cuts.

He believes that he “there still remains this risk of human failure which would lead, not to the use of military nuclear power, but to a nuclear accident of the Chernobyl type”.
