The right led by Laurent Wauquiez is developing a “legislative pact”, Gérald Darmanin calls for working with LR

The former Republicans group in the National Assembly, renamed The Republican Right and chaired by Laurent Wauquiez, is developing a “legislative pact”. “I assume my responsibilities: we will not let France Insoumise take power”declared Laurent Wauquiez to the FigaroMonday July 15, by revealing the broad outlines of this “pact”.

Promoting France, which works against “welfare”restoring authority or strengthening local public services: this project is based on “about ten texts” considered a priority, the group explains, emphasizing “the need to bring calm to a country undermined by tensions”according to a provisional document of which AFP obtained a copy.

Refusing any “government coalition” with the central bloc, this text should serve as the basis for a possible agreement with the deputies from the former majority while the republican right currently has around forty deputies pending the formal creation of the groups on Thursday.

In a message addressed to the Ensemble deputies, consulted by the AFP, Gérald Darmanin welcomed the “pact” proposed by the right. “We must work with the Republicans [renommé La Droite républicaine] on the background”wrote the Minister of the Interior, who was previously with Les Républicains (and even Nicolas Sarkozy’s campaign director during the 2016 primary). “The legislative proposals of the Republican right group are very interesting and deserve our discussion.”he insisted. “The areas discussed are largely those that need to be worked on at the request of the French people and that we were able to hear during this campaign.”
