The day after the decision of the Constitutional Council, which largely censored the immigration law with 35 articles rejected totally or partially, Thursday January 25, the right is crying scandal.
On Thursday January 25, the Constitutional Council censored nearly 40% of the articles of the immigration law, totally or partially rejecting 35 articles. Among the Sages, there are two former Prime Ministers, Alain Juppé and Laurent Fabius. Under fire from criticism since Thursday, the latter responds to those who question the integrity of the Sages. “The Council is there not to provide political services, but to make a legal decision”declared the president of the Constitutional Council on France Inter, Friday morning.
The angry right
When this partial censorship was announced, Gérald Darmanin was pleased that the text retained the initial structure desired by the government. The right, which has seen all its articles rebutted, is crying scandal. Laurent Wauquiez even speaks of a “coup d’état de j’état”. He is calling for a referendum on immigration, just like the National Rally.
