More than three steps. The Tour de France is entering its home stretch. On Friday July 21, the peloton set off from Moirans-en-Montagne and took the direction of Poligny. On a bumpy but not insurmountable 172.8 km route, teams with an ambitious sprinter will have toheart to wash away the affront of the day before. Kasper Asgreen’s surprise victory at Bourg-en-Bresse left a sour taste for Jasper Philipsen and the rest of the pack, who were hungry after six days of hunkering down in the Alps.

But they will have to be extra vigilant. Even if only two listed climbs await them, the Bois de Lionge coast (1.9 km at 5.8%) at the start of the race and that of Ivory (2.3 km at 6.2%) around thirty km from the finish, few flat meters will be offered to them before the final part. A game of attrition could set in to oust the least resistant sprinters or quite simply the most tired.
