The Rhône apron, the sentinel of our waterways

Jordi Gil from the Conservatoire d’Espaces Naturels Rhône Alpes is responsible for the apron project in Ardèche and Drôme.

Presentation :

It is a fish that rarely exceeds 20 cm, it is rather slender, it has a rounded snout with a mouth facing downwards, a color that will go from light gray to almost yellowish brown, we recognize it thanks to its black bands on its body.

Threat :

About a century ago, around 1900, it was present on 2200 kilometers of rivers, therefore present on the entire course of the Rhône and present on most of its tributaries.

Knowledge :

It is at night that we will be able to see it, and even only at night, because during the day, it is almost invisible. He has a particularity when you light him with a lamp, his eyes shine like small diamonds really very very bright.
