In the United States, startling revelations from a whistleblower rekindle the debate on UFOs.
David Grusch assures that the American government has been working for years on fragments of extraterrestrial objects, in particular fragments of spaceships which would have crashed on Earth. He gives the example of a bell-shaped spacecraft, supposedly recovered in northern Italy in 1933.
Since that date, he says, the United States and its allies have set up research programs in the greatest secrecy to study and understand these non-human objects, their composition, their functioning, for example by studying their “radiological signatures” or the way they reflect X-rays. All this can advance our knowledge of materials science but above all be very useful in the military field.
Grusch does not say he has personally seen alien vehicles, or where they might be stored. His revelations are also based on “in-depth interviews with senior intelligence officials“. He assures that gear recovery operations are underway and that he knows “the specific people, current and former, who are involved“according to The Debrief.
An “irreproachable” man
The man who makes these revelations is not a conspirator or a fanatic. At 36, David Grusch even has an impressive pedigree: broad shoulders, square jaw, rare speech, he is an Air Force veteran, of the rank of colonel – those who have worked with him call him “d ‘irreproachable’ and perfectly sane. All of his former colleagues have vouched for his personality. In a 2022 valuation report seen by the Debrief, Grusch is described as “an officer endowed with the strongest moral sense“.
Before leaving office last April, he worked for the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, which is dedicated to observing unexplained aerial phenomena; but above all for 14 years he was an intelligence officer, which allowed him to have access to classified information “top secret”.
A question of ethics
If this man used to being in the shadows exposes himself today, it is because he thinks that the government should not hide its practices from the eyes of the general public. Two years ago, in July 2021, he alerted the Inspector General of the Department of Defense to whom he provided classified documents on UFOs. It also transmits information to Congress.
The approach earned him reprisals and even death threats. In May 2022, to protect himself, he filed a complaint and requested whistleblower status. For now we have very few details on the information in his possession, David Grusch is still bound by his confidentiality agreement with the US government. But he promises new revelations in the coming months and even announces the launch of a foundation to help scientists get to grips with the subject.
It is taken all the more seriously because there is a real desire to break down taboos around what are called “unidentified abnormal phenomena“.
Taboos fall
In June 2021, a report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence stated that between 2004 and 2021, there have been 144 encounters between military pilots and these unexplained objects. Only one could be explained with a “high degree of trust“: it was a big balloon in the process of deflating.
In July 2022, as a result of increased interest from the public and some senators, the Pentagon created the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office to track UFOs.
On May 31, in Washington, NASA even held its first public meeting with 16 scientists, to explain how it was going to organize itself to better document “unexplained abnormal phenomena”. But the space agency also said the stigma surrounding reporting encounters — and harassment of those who report them — hinders its work.
One example: Navy pilots who in 2021 reported on their experience of encountering unexplained objects during military flights, said they decided, like others, not to report such encounters. internally lest it harm their careers. David Grusch did not have these prejudices.
