Launched in 1977, VOD had a chaotic fate. It lived its hour of glory in the 80s before going through a slow agony: filing for bankruptcy, takeover by Prisma Media, sales collapse, new takeover by businessman Georges Ghosn, recovery and then liquidation.

Among the seven takeover offers, it was that of the Heroes Media group which was preferred by the Paris Commercial Court. It is a small independent press publisher, until now specializing in niche publications devoted to watchmaking, boating or the automobile. With VSD, he owns for the first time a generalist brand to which he hopes to breathe new life.

The first issue of the new formula comes out on Friday June 30: the cover is devoted to Didier Deschamps, the coach of the French football team, 25 years after the World Cup in France.
