Queens Of The Stone Age releases its eighth studio album on June 16, In Times New Roman… No revolution in the formula with ubiquitous and effective guitars, the interest is perhaps more in the message sent by the leader of the Queens of the Stone Age, Josh Homme, who has faced some personal storms in recent years.
We left him proud and happy in 2017, with an album produced by superstar Mark Ronson. Today, Josh Homme’s voice returns as it is, but the man sings about his scars. A stormy divorce, fiercely disputed custody of the children, missing friends, a vanquished cancer. This is now the salt of an eighth album made of resilience and sometimes mysticism.
“The issue of shortness of life is important to me. Either way, we’re going to crash.”
Josh Manin an interview for Apple Music
“Why are we on Earth is not a question that makes me uncomfortable, he confides. For the moment my answer is: when in doubt, let’s not waste time. Rome is burning, the Titanic is sinking. So I’m just saying, what are we going to do with the time we have left?”
The group thus appears as a lifeline, a serene space in which the guitars speak for everyone. The formula does not change: that of a group which, from the Californian desert to the largest venues in the world, despite the years, absolutely does not want to lower the sound and the energy.
Queens of The Stone Age will be on tour in France on July 4 at the Nuits de Fourvière in LyonJuly 5 in Albi for the Pause Guitare festival, and November 7 at the Accor Arena in Paris.
