the retrofit’ transforms old thermal cars into electric ones

As gasoline prices rise, this is the solution to keep your car running on gasoline but without consuming any more fuel. This technology is called retrofitting. She allows to transform internal combustion vehicles into electric ones. An ecological solution that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

To present these cars to the general public, one of the companies specializing in retrofitting, Rev Mobilities, is touring France with its vehicles. After Cannes on Monday April 25, they were in Nice on Tuesday April 26 at Place Garibaldi.

Manage my choices

From the outside nothing changes, you have to open the hood to see the difference. No more heat engine or exhaust line tank. They are replaced by a battery system, a new motor and a whole electrical system. The vehicle is therefore fully electric and no longer consumes fuel.

The price of the operation varies depending on the vehicle but for an old collector’s car it takes around 15,000 euros. A cost partly amortized by the numerous state and community aids.

“It’s a great solution because the retrofit is half of a new vehicle”explains Arnaud Pigounides is the president of Rev mobilities. “It’s savings, it’s ecology. It’s a great solution, especially for low-emission zones. It’s the car of yesterday, of tomorrow”he assures.

New life for old cars

A new life for these vehicles. With the new system they can continue to drive for fifteen years. The company has already tested its technology on old cars, commercial vehicles but also buses.

Retrofitting is also of interest to local authorities. “We have an extremely powerful orientation in the field of change to electric”promises Louis Négre is the delegate president of the Nice Côte d’Azur metropolis. “As soon as the economic model is stable, there will be retrofits yes”he promises.

Everyone will soon be able to enjoy it. By 2024 the retrofit will be available for all individuals at Rev Mobilities. In the meantime, the French will be able to discover these prototypes during a tour throughout France. Next stage Monaco on April 27 before Marseille, Toulouse, Bordeaux or even Rennes. A great tour that will end in Lyon on June 23 and 24.
