The legendary Quebec alternative group Les Dévadés, a teenage project by Éric Goulet and Luc De Larochellière, is reborn from its ashes after having sunk into oblivion in 1986 before even having released a single album.
Following the chance discovery of a cassette containing the master tapes of lost recordings, the two singer-songwriters decided to give permission for the tape to be cleaned and remastered. The group is releasing this Friday a first extract from an album which will finally be released in the fall.
The song Die in the sky turns out to be a prophetic song, its story relating the tragic destiny of “two modern Icaruses who, as in Greek mythology, will be cut down in full ascension”, tells us the press release sent on Friday.
The radio extract is also accompanied by a short documentary film which retraces the impact that Les Dévadés had almost 40 years ago and giving voice to a range of artists who witnessed the emergence of the young band. Michel Rivard, Mara Tremblay, Mitsou, France Castel, Pierre Flynn, Geneviève Borne, Laurent Saulnier and Yves Jacques are among those who spoke to Alexandre Chartrand’s camera.
We are also surprised when reading the credits appearing in the credits of the short film, which also reveals to us that Éric Goulet and Luc De Larochellière intend to take up their instruments again to revive the music of Les Dévadés on stage at the opportunity for a first and final tour.
