the Restos du Coeur de la Drôme open their doors to find volunteers

Everyone knows Les Restos du Cœur but the association doesn’t just distribute meals. It’s to get better known than Restaurants are opening their doors in France for the first time this Saturday, June 25. In Drôme, this will be an opportunity to try to attract volunteers after the pandemic.

Eight centers in Drôme will welcome partners and the general public. Volunteers will take the opportunity to communicate on the many actions of the Restos du Cœur. “We do micro-credit and budget advice, access to law. We have lawyers who intervene free of charge to advise people on the legal level, we have literacy and French courses. Centers also offer courses cooking and sewing”explains Francis Bussière, one of the association’s leaders in Drôme.

But with the pandemic, it is increasingly difficult to offer all of these activities according to the latter: “Currently we are around 750 volunteers. Before the covid, we were 850. So we lost a lot of people and we still have positions open. We need drivers or order pickers”.

The centers are open this Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m..
