The manager of the restaurant “Tchin Tchin Wine Bar” in Bordeaux in Gironde was taken into custody on Tuesday morning, December 5, in the city’s police station, as part of the investigation into the death of a female victim. of botulism in early September, franceinfo learned on Tuesday December 5 from a source close to the investigation, confirming information from Le Parisien.

Contacted by franceinfo, the public prosecutor of Bordeaux, Frédérique Porterie, confirms this custody. The hearing of the restaurant manager is being carried out by the Bordeaux judicial police and by the Central Office for the fight against attacks on the environment and public health (Oclaesp), she specifies.

In total, 15 cases of botulism had been identified, people having eaten homemade canned sardines in the same restaurant, the “Tchin Tchin Wine Bar”, between September 4 and 10 in Bordeaux. These people are of seven different nationalities, including American, Canadian, French, Irish, Greek or English. One of these cases was fatal.

The public prosecutor’s office announced that it was opening a preliminary investigation for “involuntary manslaughter”, “unintentional injuries” and “placing on the market of foodstuffs harmful to health and sale of corrupt or toxic foodstuffs” against the Bordeaux establishment “Tchin Tchin Wine Bar”, after the death of a 32-year-old woman, who died at her home in Paris after presenting herself to hospitals. This investigation was entrusted to the Bordeaux judicial police and the Central Office for Combating Environmental and Public Health Attacks (Oclaesp)
