In reality, the Prime Minister cannot be removed from office if he does not tender his resignation. “You cannot expel him from Matignon if he does not want to leave. A “form of weakness” of the president
The resignation of Elisabeth Borne therefore shows that it is “pure political practice. (…) We have an Elisabeth Borne who submits (…), but it also shows a form of weakness of the President of the Republic. (…) Through the revolt of the left-wing ministers in December and Elisabeth Borne who has difficulty leaving, it shows that this government is no longer really under orders”analyzes Benjamin Morel.
