Only a few hours after the 2023 Quebec City Summer Festival passes went on sale, music enthusiasts sold out the tickets. However, the high price resale of these tickets should not take place.
Billets.ca and 514-billets.com are reselling FEQ 2023 tickets for more than they were worth. Tickets go from $140 to a price between $250 and $400 (“FEQ tickets are flying and prices are exploding on resale sites”, The duty, March 23, 2023). With the cost of living rising, it is no longer Mr. and Mrs. Everybody who can afford to pay a larger sum.
Some would argue that if these music lovers don’t have the money to pay for resale tickets, they should put it to good use and save it to pay their bills. Although this kind of entertainment requires a sum of money, such an increase deprives those who, in the beginning, could afford it.
Some people who had been patiently waiting for tickets to become available to the general public were saddened to find that their chance to attend the festival in July was gone in less than two hours. Students had planned to enjoy the 11 days of shows with their friends. However, with another college term and rent to pay, the increased ticket prices won’t allow them to see their favorite artists.
In short, many music lovers will have to drop the idea of going to the festival and wait until next year.
