No LREM candidate against Damien Abad
Tipped to enter the government, Damien Abad announced at Figaro (article reserved for subscribers) resign from the presidency of Les Républicains in the National Assembly and go on leave from the party. “Our differences have accelerated in recent weeks with the decisions of the political office and the choices of the presidential election in the second round. I draw the consequences today”, he justifies, citing in particular the policy of “ni-nor” (neither Emmanuel Macron, nor Marine Le Pen). The one who ensures to stay “a man of the right” says he wants to prove “of clarity, consistency and accountability” and denies being in a “bargaining logic” to enter government.
The presidential majority had not invested any candidate against LR deputies presented as Macron-compatible, such as Constance Le Grip or Damien Abad.
