The Republicans “have chosen not to debate to hide their own divisions”, tackles Renaissance deputy Benjamin Haddad

The spokesperson for the Renaissance group in the National Assembly denounces “baroque alliances” of the Republicans “with the extreme left and the extreme right to deprive a debate on immigration that we need”.

“We saw a party, LR, which chose not to debate this bill on immigration, because they prefer to hide their own divisions”, tackled Tuesday, December 12 on franceinfo Benjamin Haddad, deputy for Paris and spokesperson for the Renaissance group in the National Assembly, after the vote, Monday, on the motion to reject the deputies. For Benjamin Haddad, the LR deputies “do not agree, for some, with the work of their senators and deprive the French and the National Assembly of an important debate on immigration”. He denounces “baroque wedding rings” Republicans “with the far left and the far right to deprive us of a debate on immigration that we need”.

“It is an irresponsible, cynical alliance between parties which absolutely do not have the same discourse, the same vision on immigration, from Mathilde Panot to Marine Le Pen, including Sandrine Rousseau and Eric Ciotti.”

The spokesperson for the Renaissance deputies recognizes that the vote on the motion to reject is “a failure” of the majority. But Benjamin Haddad insists that the government’s bill is a text “supported by the French, a text of firmness, of authority”. He assures that “the French want results, effective measures to be able to fight against illegal immigration and better expel delinquent foreigners”.

“I am delighted that there is a joint committee”adds Benjamin Haddad, welcoming the government’s decision to refer the bill to this committee. “Deputies and senators will now work together in the coming weeks to try to find a compromise.” He calls for “everyone takes responsibility”. According to him, the French have “sent a message so that we work together with the republican oppositions and find concrete solutions in the general interest”.
