For the leader of the CFDT, it is only a “communication objective”. The RN proposes a repeal of the reform which Marylise Léon considers “totally irresponsible” and “no way out”.

“It’s both a scam and a dead end”gets annoyed on Tuesday October 8 on France Inter Marylise Léon, general secretary of the CFDT, while the National Rally will present during its parliamentary niche at the end of the month a proposal to repeal the pension reform. The leader of the CFDT sees this “a communication objective” from the far right.

Marylise Léon judges this proposal “totally irresponsible”especially “that it is hopeless since it will not be taken up in the Senate.” The union leader highlights the fact that the RN is proposing to “remove the 64 years to return to 62 years, and to eliminate the 43 years of work to return to 42, to arrive at an increased deficit of 15 billion euros in the basic pension system” while proposing “in return for increasing a portion of taxation”. According to her, this “distorts the methods of financing pension plans”.

Marylise Léon accuses the RN of “weaken the pay-as-you-go system which is based on contributions”. “They make employees believe that their proposal is a solution, which is not the case,” she denounces. The boss of the CFDT also specifies that her union maintains its opposition to the extreme right which “door to the heart of [son] programs legal inequalities, lack of solidarity, division, stigmatization and the search for scapegoats”topics “antithetical to what the CFDT is promoting”. “We do not work with these parties”, she insists.

Marylise Léon also recalls that her union wishes “the generalization of progressive retirement from the age of 60, without conditions”. She hopes that the new government will reach out to the trade union organizations, wishing “opening discussions” notably “on arduousness, the difficulties of women, multi-pensioners and the financing of the scheme, etc.”. She assures that the unions have “proposals” to do to the Prime Minister, while maintaining a red line around the postponement of the legal age of departure from 62 to 64 years. “If we are around the table with Michel Barnier, nothing will prevent me from demonstrating to him that 64 years is profoundly unfair”adds the leader of the CFDT.

In general, Marylise Léon expects more consultations from the new Prime Minister. “We are calling for a public finance conference, where we talk about spending and pensions,” she says. She considers that the presentation of the budget “cannot be done on the sly, through the media.”
