The reorganization of French and international military forces in Mali will be decided in “a few weeks”according to Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian on Thursday February 10 on France Inter, ten days after the expulsion of the French ambassador to Mali by the junta in power since August 2020.
Without ever clearly answering the question “Are the French forces going to withdraw from Mali?”the Minister considered that it was necessary “to reorganize” given the new political situation in the country.

“The situation cannot remain as it is in Mali but, in the Sahel, the fight must continue. We are today in discussion with our Sahelian partners, our European partners, our international partners (…) to consider the reorganization of our system and to continue to fight terrorism in the area”did he declare.
