The Remparts offer themselves a big victory

The Quebec Remparts largely won at the expense of the Sherbrooke Phoenix by a score of 6 to 2, Saturday at the Palais des Sports Léopold-Drolet.

While the score was 2 to 0 at the start of the third period, attacker Kassim Gaudet served a superb feint to Phoenix defender Etienne Tremblay-Mathieu before beating goalkeeper Samuel St-Hilaire between the pads.

The latter also had a more than complicated match, allowing five goals on 32 shots. His counterpart at the other end of the ice, Montreal Canadian prospect Quentin Miller, failed to record a shutout, having conceded two goals at the very end of the game. The 18-year-old made 25 saves on 27 shots.

The party started quickly for Eric Veilleux’s men. They got on the scoreboard after 2 min 57 s of play thanks to Daniel Agostino. The members of the Quebec club also managed to make the red light shine twice on the power play as Zachary Marquis-Laflamme and Xavier Lebel managed to deceive the vigilance of St-Hilaire.

Pier-Etienne Cloutier and Nathan Plamondon-Michaud were the other two scorers for the Remparts. Andrew Belchamber and Lewis Gendron responded for Sherbrooke.

Thanks to this gain, Quebec posted a performance of 9-13-0, good for eighth place in the Eastern Association.

The Remparts will host the Drummondville Voltigeurs on Tuesday at the Videotron Center.
