The route of the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) project to the eastern tip and northeast of Montreal has been revised over a distance of more than 4.5 km in order to travel on a railway track near Souligny Street, rather than on Sherbrooke Street.
The promoter of the project, CDPQ Infra, made the announcement around 1 p.m. Tuesday during a press conference along the Canadian National railway line, near Souligny Street, in a residential area. This is where the REM de l’Est will travel in aerial mode over more than 4.5 km, rather than on Sherbrooke Street.
This route change is possible thanks to an agreement reached on December 30 between CDPQ Infra and CN and comes after public consultations.
Further details will follow.
