Two inmates work in the metallurgy workshop of the CFF in Laval. “I chose this sector of CORCAN for the recognition of acquired skills,” explains one of them, who will soon obtain a certificate in welding and another in metallurgical assembly. “By leaving, I will be in a better position to find a job in the construction sector,” he says hopefully. “The guys, for the most part, have difficulty academically, sitting in school for training. So, it’s really a practical learning experience, handling the different equipment, which aims to enable them to obtain a job,” summarizes François Bertrand, the workshop supervisor.
