The Grand Est regional health agency (ARS) has activated the white plan in Moselle to deal with a tense situation in the department’s hospitals, in particular the emergency departments. Activation of a white plan allows establishment directors to reorganize themselves, for example by unscheduling operations considered non-urgent or by reorganizing staff schedules.

It is recommended that the population, particularly residents of Metz and Thionville, call 15 before going to the emergency room. “In a context of strong pressure observed on health establishments for several weeks, with increased difficulties in the emergency services of establishments in Moselle, the ARS Grand Est has triggered the territorial white plan and is asking public and private establishments of the department to activate the internal mobilization plan ‘white plan'”writes the ARS in a press release dated Saturday.

“A lack of medical and nursing staff”

“The hospital situation is currently tense, particularly due to a lack of medical and nursing staff leading to bed closures and an adaptation of the operation of a certain number of hospital services in the department, including emergency services”explains the agency.

If necessary, establishments located in the neighboring departments of Meurthe-et-Moselle, Bas-Rhin and Meuse may be contacted.
