The jury of REGARD, a film festival dedicated to short films, awarded 15 prizes and awarded 9 mentions at its closing on Sunday. The films remain accessible on the event’s online platform.
A film from the Philippines, Cross my Heart and Hope to Die by Sam Manacsa won the Grand Prix. The jury praised its visual and narrative “acuity”, the cinematography and the “surprising” plot, filled with tension and unpredictable twists and turns.
Ontario’s Phillip Barker walked away with the Canadian Grand Prix with EarthWormwhile the Jury Prize was awarded to the Danish film And for example: Dem pa gulvet by Selma Sunniva, which also received a special mention from the Quebec critics’ jury.

The jury was made up of actress Anne-Marie Cadieux, producer and programmer Kathlee McInnis, multidisciplinary Mohawk artist Nishina Loft, director Pier-Philippe Chevigny and Canadian filmmaker of Bulgarian origin Theodore Ushev.
