The Lavey refuge, at an altitude of 1797m, is a FFCAM refuge with a capacity of 44 places which is located in the Lavey valley, in the town of Saint Christophe en Oisans.
A shelter accessible to all.
Labeled “Refuges en famille”, it is easy to access and can accommodate children and teenagers. A pretty 2-hour hike along the Muande torrent will take you to the La Lavey refuge, in the heart of the Écrins National Park.
Located at the foot of the Aiguille de l’Olan and the Maximin corridor, surrounded by glaciers and easily accessible lakes, this little corner of paradise appeals to young and old alike: mountaineers, hikers, climbers and curious people like to share their stories and share their findings.
As soon as you arrive, you immediately feel the conviviality that reigns around the refuge.
The love of mountains and nature.
Families appreciate the bucolic setting of the refuge, its vegetable garden, good meals and drinks made from local and organic products!
The bread, too, is made on site!
For 3 years, Camille and Ludmilla have been the guardians of this refuge. Helped by Vincianne and Andréou, they strive to share life in this high place of pastoralism, with the shepherds, and regularly organize events in the refuge to surprise hikers.
And sometimes hikers become messengers to shepherds.
A refuge with a soul.
The Lavey refuge will be partially rebuilt and refurbished in 2023-2024 to offer more comfort to hikers and mountaineers… and to keepers too!
But this refuge really has a soul and Camille hopes that it will keep this simplicity, which is essential in the mountains.
