After crossing home plate in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by JD Martinez, Xander Bogaerts got the ball rolling in the eighth with a single that allowed Enrique Hernandez to score. Martinez, Trevor Story, Jackie Bradley Jr. and Kevin Plawecki all went on to drive in runs for the Red Sox.

Caleb Thielbar also gave way to Cody Stashak on the mound after a single withdrawal during this fateful round, but the Twins could not stop the bleeding.

Bailey Ober (1-1) added a loss to his record despite a very solid performance. The jumbo pitcher allowed four hits and two runs in six innings, going three out on pass.

Despite conceding the Twins’ lone run, Matt Strahm (1-0) earned the win, having managed a strikeout in one and a third innings of work.

Michael Wacha was the biggest architect of the Red Sox victory by being nearly flawless in five innings at the mound. The right-hander muzzled five opposing batters, in addition to allowing only one hit and two walks.
