six years later The Getawaythe legendary Californian group Red Hot Chili Peppers is preparing to launch its twelfth album, Unlimited LoveApril 1, 2022. A disc recorded with John Frusciante, the iconic guitarist of the formation, who left in 2009 (after a first eclipse in the 90s) and who made his comeback in 2019. In preamble, the original rock group from Los Angeles released the song BlackSummerthe first single from the album, overnight from Thursday to Friday.

If the singer Anthony Kiedis has taken a few wrinkles and now wears a mustache, the clip and the atmosphere of the song – adorned with a solo by John Frusciante – bring back to memory some pretty reminiscences of the good times of the group.

And for good reason: the album, which has 17 tracks, is produced by Rick Rubin (Johnny Cash, Adele), a longtime collaborator of the group, who had not worked with the Red Hot Chili Peppers since 2011. Rubin is the producer of the band’s flagship albums, including the mythical Blood Sugar Sex Magic (1991) but also Californication (1999), By The Way (2002) and Stadium Arcadium (2006).

In 2021, the group sold its catalog of songs to Hipgnosis, a British music rights management giant. The release of the new disc Unlimited Love (on the Warner Records label) is accompanied by a tour that will pass through Europe. This summer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, made up of Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith and John Frusciante, will give two concerts at the Stade de France, in Saint-Denis, on July 8 and 9, 2022.
