“It is so that they can find themselves in the steps to be taken, the consideration of care, or how to have access to accommodation.” The website is accompanied by a telephone number on the same principle: 0 805 389 789.

franceinfo: What can we find on this website?

Florent Vallee: We find all the necessary information in Ukrainian, but also in English or Russian, to help the people arriving as much as possible. This is so that they can find themselves in the steps to be taken, taking care into account, which hospital to turn to, how to have access to Social Security, assistance or accommodation… It is also in French because there are French people who share time with the Ukrainians to help and accompany them. This is a first version that was launched very quickly. She will improve over the days to locate people, have a map and locate the best places where there can be help for everyone.

Is there also a section for traders?

Yes, because they can give food aid to Ukrainian people. They can give to the nearest local Red Cross unit to enable it to carry out the actions according to the needs. This site is also used to redirect good intentions and good ideas to the Red Cross delegation, to cross with the exact needs so as not to end up with a lot of donations and not know what to do with them. You have to be able to respond to people’s needs at the “T” moment.

Do you need additional volunteers?

We always need volunteers to carry out all the actions that we have to carry out all year round, whether to help the Ukrainians but also to go and carry out patrols or set up rescue devices. We always need volunteers. Anyone can come. We take care of providing the necessary training that people want to do to progress internally within the Red Cross.
