The rector of the Paris academy announced in a letter that he was leaving his position on Friday February 2. “I am leaving my position today, (…) our school is plagued by doubt and the situation nevertheless requires mobilization from everyone”, writes Christophe Kerrero. On Wednesday, the Ministry of National Education suspended one of its projects. It provided for the closure of several preparatory classes for the next school year and the parallel opening of three other classes open to professional baccalaureate holders.
The former rector regrets too much “social reproduction”
“Social reproduction still characterizes our education system far too much”, he explains again in his letter. Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, the Minister of Education, welcomed “his exemplary journey” in a message on the social network “a very great loss”. A resignation from this position, which Christophe Kerrero has held for three and a half years, is extremely rare.
