the rare confidences of Marc-Olivier Fogiel on his role as a father and his complicity with his two daughters born thanks to the GPA

For the section “Parent Life” offered by the daily The world, where a personality evokes the joys and setbacks of his life with his children, Marc-Olivier Fogiel did not hesitate to reveal the sensitive side of his personality. He who was known to be biting and caustic with his guests on his television talk shows! At 53, the CEO of BFM TV has been sharing her life for almost 10 years with her husband, François Roelants, a renowned photographer who has just produced the naked calendar of the “Gaillards”, a rugby club, mixed and LGBT+ friendly in Paris. Together, they are raising Lila (12) and Lily (10), two little girls born thanks to surrogacy. If the girls know their story perfectly, Marc-Olivier Fogiel, as a concerned and responsible dad, ensures that they do not become the standards of surrogacy (GPA). On this subject, he even wishes to shield them against possible future attacks: “Surrogacy and gay parenting have always been with us, it’s even a joke when they get on my nerves.”

“There will be more complicated moments but they will know how to manage them”

And the journalist admits that, as a joke, he sometimes answers them: “ Just tell your mom!” explaining that he “prefers to do fourth degree”: “I don’t want to make them weigh too much… I have no stress or guilt about it. Very early on, I told them their story so that, the day when they would be confronted with the gaze of others, they would have it anchored in them. They don’t feel shaken when they see anti-surrogacy posters or messages. I trust. There will be more complicated moments but they will know how to manage them.

And above all, his daughters have given meaning to his existence, as he confides to our colleagues : “I thought I was childless and there I felt like I was rejoining the cycle of life”. Dad hen, they especially knew how to bring out his hypersensitivity in him: “I am a fountain in front of my children. When one of my daughters wakes up in the morning and I find her beautiful; when I take her to school and she says goodbye… I cry all the time!”, he admits bluntly, he who even says to himself “impressed” by his children. And what do they say to annoy him?Dadou (their second dad)fortunately he is there because he is really the one who educates us”, they throw at him when they are angry. And it seems to work because Marc-Olivier Fogiel can’t help justifying himself:“They say I’m the comforting dad and he’s raising them. I still think the roles are a little more shared than that.”
