The raptors of Ardèche, the first identification guide for the general public.

The League for the Protection of Birds collects and maps valuable naturalistic data to monitor the fauna of the Ardèche sky and alongside it, the agents of the Regional Nature Park participate in particular in monitoring species and raising public awareness.

Author: Nicolas DUROURE

Now vice-president of the LPO Drôme-Ardèche, Nicolas has been an activist at the LPO since the 1990s. As an employee, then an administrator, he took part in most of the studies, monitoring and safeguarding actions of birds of prey. in place in recent years: monitoring of the reproduction sites of the golden eagle and the peregrine falcon, protection of the common harrier nests. Referent for nature education at the LPO, he hopes that this book will provide everyone with a better knowledge of these emblematic species and participate in the protection of a nature that is more threatened than ever.

For Damien COCÂTRE of the Monts d’Ardèche Regional Natural Park, coordinator of the book, the idea is to provide information on current knowledge to the widest possible audience.

We didn’t want something too scientific

10 years of work and 90,000 data collected by naturalists served as the basis for this guide. For each species, it presents a description of the bird, its distribution area, its reproduction cycle, numbers and conservation status also enrich knowledge.

It is also a way of raising public awareness, knowing where to observe them, identify them, know them is also better to protect them.

Sumptuous photos and detailed maps will thrill the reader, whether he is passionate about raptors, Ardèche lover or just curious.
