The rallying of the former director of Frontex Fabrice Leggeri to the National Rally for the next European elections “proves that the classical basis [du parti] is built on necro-politics”castigates Sunday February 18 on franceinfo Raquel Garrido, La France insoumise MP for Seine-Saint-Denis.

Fabrice Leggeri announced in the columns of the Journal du Dimanche, and on social networks, that he was joining Jordan Bardella’s list in third position. A decision strongly criticized by MP Insoumise. Raquel Garrido considers that this rallying “reveals shrinkage” of the National Rally “on toxic subjects”.

Raquel Garrido particularly denounces the record of Fabrice Leggeri, who was from 2015 to 2022 at the head of the EU agency responsible for border control. “It’s the bet that by letting people die in the Mediterranean, it will have a deterrent effect for those considering the crossing”she laments. The member for Seine-Saint-Denis does not understand how “this prevents people from entrepreneurship” crossing. She thus judges “terrible” this objective, but believes that now the public “has a name, a face” behind “these thousands of deaths in the Mediterranean”. “If I were Jordan Bardella, I would absolutely not be proud to highlight this character who has the death of thousands of people on his hands”she says.
