The German Liane Lippert (Movistar) won the sprint in Mauriac on Monday.

Rainy stage, unhappy stage. The 2nd stage of the Tour de France women 2023 between Clermont-Ferrand and Mauriac was marked by a cascade of falls, caused by the rain which soaked the road at the end of the race. Uneven, this stage was announced as spectacular and open to adventurers, but in the end nothing happened. After a fairly calm start to the day, a peloton of favorites formed according to the crashes in the final.

In the final climb, apart from Mavi Garcia (Liv Racing TeqFind), all the leaders were neck and neck, including the French Evita Muzic (FDJ-Suez) and Juliette Labous (Team DSM). But the SD Worx armada sorted it out, nipping the attacks in the bud, all taken up by Marlen Reusser. In the last meters, the Swiss suddenly slowed down to create a break, favorable to her teammate and yellow jersey Lotte Kopecky. But the Belgian was surprised by Liane Lippert (Movistar), fresher.
