The France Télévisions teams went to meet employees of the industrial sector in Ain, Thursday June 20, to inquire about their concerns regarding the legislative elections.
In the European elections, the National Rally came first with 36% of the votes, facing La France insoumise, which obtained 17% of the votes. As the legislative elections approach, the context is tense in an eyewear factory in Ain. For the sake of discretion and to avoid conflicts, employees do not talk about politics. Many are also undecided, like Asmaa Otman, who says she is “paumée”. At 54 years old, 25 of which have been spent in industry, this employee and mother of four children is worried about her purchasing power and also pleads for a return to pension reform.
In the same factory, Sébastien, 34, claims not to have voted in the European elections. Even if he says he is sensitive to the left, he is not yet sure of giving his voice to the New Popular Front. “They made alliances that don’t interest me”, like LFI, he explains. He particularly fears the beautiful promises of the National Rally. According to an Ipsos poll, during the European elections, 54% of workers voted RN, or 14 points more than in 2019.
