When Queen Elizabeth II died in September 2022, her eldest son, Prince Charles, was named as her successor and appointed King of England. And like all the sovereigns of the country, the father of princes William and Harry will be entitled to a prestigious coronation which will be held on May 6 within the walls of the famous Westminster Abbey.
Since the foundations of the monarchy, when a man becomes “king”, his wife then obtains the title of “queen consort”. Very little for Charles, who must now be called “Charles III”, who has decided that this status of “queen by default” is slightly reductive for his wife Camilla Parker Bowles. This Wednesday, April 5, 2023, we learn that Camilla Parker Bowles now bears the title of “queen”. This is indeed what appears on the official invitation card to the coronation of the British sovereign, as underlined by the English newspaper The Guardian. It is written that the recipients of this letter are invited to the “coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla”.
Camilla Parker Bowles: From Mistress to Queen
If Charles III married Diana Spencer in 1980, he has always been in love with Camilla Parker Bowles, his first love of youth. Despite their respective marriages, Charles and Camilla never left and the English understood that she was the prince’s mistress during his marriage to Lady Diana. A few years after the death of the latter, Charles then asks his mother, Queen Elizabeth II to change the law so that he can finally marry his beautiful. Royal etiquette does not allow a member of the royal family to marry someone who is divorced, which was Camilla at the time.
He wins and marries in 2005, the one that has always made his heart beat. Long hated by the British people, Camilla Parker Bowles will nevertheless have managed to make her way to the throne and even obtained the validation of Queen Elizabeth II who had had tender words for her a few months before her death.

A colorful coronation, 70 years after his mother
On June 2, 1953, Queen Elizabeth II was crowned at Westminster Abbey in London, at the age of 25. On May 6, his son Charles will in turn be honored, 70 years later, in the same abbey. The 74-year-old monarch invited more than 2,000 people, including Emmanuel Macron, to this grandiose event. On the invitation card which was produced by Andrew Jamieson is a new photo of the royal couple taken at the Blue Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace.
Finally, if English artists like Ed Sheeran and Adele refused to sing during the party to be held the day after the coronation at Windsor Castle, which greatly upset Charles III, it is rumored that Harry Styles could nevertheless be present.
