The purchase of fuel limited to 30L in certain stations in Haute-Garonne and throughout the Tarn

While the government has just announced the requisition
personnel at Esso-Exxonmobil depots and that a third of the stations in France lack one or more fuels, the prefectures are taking measures in Occitanie to avoid overconsumption and storage.

30 liters maximum in the Tarn

In the Tarn, François-Xavier Lauch, the prefect, limits buying and selling to:
• 30 liters (with a minimum delivery of 5 liters) for passenger vehicles of less than 3.5 tons
• 120 liters for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes;
• 200 liters for heavyweights.

The vehicles of services or companies performing a public service mission are not affected by the 30 or 120 liter limits. To have police vehicles, gendarmerie, ambulances, SAMU, approved taxis, doctors, nurses, but also armored vans, school buses. The full list of exceptions can be found here.

Some stations voluntarily limit

In Haute-Garonne, there is no limitation of this kind decided by the Prefecture, but France Bleu has noted that certain stations themselves limit distribution. Thus, in Villefranche-de-Lauragais, at the Hyper U, you can only take 30 liters of fuel. Employees are at the pump to inform the long line of motorists. The station is also closed at night, to prevent people from helping themselves and stocking up.

No cans or jerry cans

Finally, many prefectures in Occitania prohibit the purchase or sale of fuel in cans or jerrycans. This is the case in Haute-Garonne but also in Ariège, Tarn and Gers.
