When he last appeared in court in March, psychological assessments of the accused could not be completed. A delay of 30 days had been requested.
Detained at the Philippe-Pinel Institute of Forensic Psychiatry, the assessment of Pierre Ny St-Amand aimed at determining his criminal responsibility at the time of the tragedy, on February 8, was submitted this morning.
The defendant’s 22-page psychiatric report, requested by the defence, was sealed.
“It is under seal to prevent members of the public from reading the report, which contains very personal information about the file and the situation of Mr. St-Amand”, specifies the Crown prosecutor in the file.
“You have to take the time to read the report carefully to see what the next steps are in the file. (…) To see the avenues depending on the conclusion of the report whether it is a second opinion, whether it is a file that will go forward, a common suggestion… We have no idea for the moment,” she says.
Pierre Ny St-Amand, whose detention in Pinel is over, will be transferred to a detention center.
He is charged with two premeditated murders, one attempted murder and several assault charges.
Pierre Ny St-Amand will be back in court on June 13.
