the PSG Ultras, in conflict with the club, cease their activities in the stands

Following a meeting with the management of the Parisian club, the Ultras decided on Wednesday to no longer support PSG, both at home and away, whether it be the men’s, women’s or even handball teams.

The Collectif Ultras Paris (CUP) has decided to temporarily cease its activity, in the stands at the Parc des Princes and on the move, following the meeting on Tuesday between the Ultras and the management of PSG, announced the CUP on Wednesday May 10, in a statement.“Following the meeting between the club management and the leaders of the CUP, the CUP office decided the total cessation of our activities including hand and women until further notice”explains the text of the Parisian Ultras, which will not be “therefore no longer present at the Parc des Princes or on the move”.

“The latest events and the state of our common relationship with management lead us to believe that this is the best and only solution likely to preserve a common future”the Ultras continued.

The Ultras notably accuse PSG of having canceled their 450 tickets (out of 900 in total for Parisian supporters) for the trip to Troyes on Sunday, where Paris won 3-1. A good part of them had nevertheless made the trip but remained blocked at the toll or in front of the Aube stadium, supervised by the police.

A situation deemed “serious” by the Ultras

“The situation that we consider very serious in several respects must not be underestimated and we do not intend to compromise on our freedoms”added the CUP. “We are waiting for clear answers from the club on several points in order to possibly review our positions.“.

Last week, the anger of PSG supporters led by the Ultras rose a notch after the defeat against Lorient, reaching a level not seen since Qatar bought the club in 2011, pushing some to show their anger until in front of Neymar’s home. The CUP had, in a press release, asked “if to date, there is still a pilot in the plane”reproaching the leaders pell-mell with the “dress codes”, the club’s candidacy for the takeover of the Stade de France, the ticketing policy, recruitment, the absence of former members in the club’s environment … Before concluding : “QSI, you bought a football club… Play football”.

Before that, the tension had already been palpable in front of the Factory, the headquarters of PSG in Boulogne-Billancourt, where several hundred supporters had gathered last Wednesday, with banners and smoke bombs. A rare scene since the takeover in 2011 by the QSI fund but which had already occurred in 2019 when there was friction between the CUP and the club’s security company over new security measures taken at the Parc des Princes .

Security has been reinforced in front of Neymar’s home but also at Camp des Loges, PSG’s training center, and in front of the homes of the other players targeted by supporters’ insults, Marco Verratti, Leo Messi and coach Christophe Galtier.
