The Socialist Party, the French Communist Party and Europe Ecologie Les Verts called, Thursday, November 16, in a joint press release, to demonstrate on Saturday for a “immediate ceasefire in Gaza” And “the release of all the hostages”.
La France insoumise, which is not a signatory, for its part called on X for this demonstration organized at the call of several unions (CGT, FSU, Solidaires). “I appreciate that everyone is rallying behind these demonstrations in which La France insoumise has been involved since the beginning,” reacted the LFI coordinator Manuel Bompard, while specifying that the signatories of the call had not “not proposed” to participate in it.
“Crimes against the Republic”
In this press release, also signed by Place Publique and several small left-wing parties, PS, PCF and EELV call for “the unity of the Nation”and emphasize that “anti-Semitism and racism are crimes against the entire Republic.”
They add that “Hamas is in no way a liberation movement but a terrorist organization”and “the response decided by Nethanyahu’s far-right government, which indiscriminately attacks the civilian population in Gaza, has become collective punishment.” The signatories also demand “the lifting of the blockade of Gaza”, “the end of human rights violations and colonization in the West Bank”, and “the relaunch of the peace process for the recognition of the State of Palestine alongside the State of Israel”.
This joint press release, with which LFI is not associated, once again highlights the dissensions between Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s party and its partners in Nupes, who have been in a state of clinical death for several weeks.
