The public prosecutor of Caen (Calvados) requests “the opening of a judicial investigation with a request for placement in pre-trial detention” for the owner and operator of a ride at the Caen Easter fair, reported Thursday April 18 France Bleu Normandie. The two men are suspected of“manslaughter” and of “hidden work”.
This request from the prosecution comes as parts of the ride in question have disappeared. The discovery was made by the expert responsible for examining the ride.
On Sunday, a 64-year-old man was killed by a cherry picker while working on a ride, the Speed Mouse, at the Easter fair in Caen. Initially seriously injured, he was rushed to hospital before dying from his injuries.
Two days later, the owner of the ride and the operator of the attraction – in the cabin at the time of the accident – were placed in police custody for “involuntary manslaughter” and “concealed work”. This last count refers to the fact that the victim – considered to be the manager of the attraction – was not in compliance with this status.
