The Minister of Education, Jean-François Roberge, sent a message to students on social networks. “To you, I want to send a special ‘thank you’ for your resilience. Thanks to you, and thanks to all Quebecers who have stuck together since the start of the pandemic, the graduates and graduates of the 2022 cohort will finally be able to celebrate this important rite of passage, ”he wrote.

Events in drive-in theaters, virtual celebrations, processions of teachers who traveled to students’ homes to give them their diplomas: schools have had to be imaginative over the past two years to mark the end of this stage for their students. .

In 2021, after having first banned them, Quebec had finally given, three weeks before the end of classes, its agreement to the holding of proms. These were to take place in the middle of summer, which had aroused the ire of several teachers and directors.

In 2020, these celebrations had been completely banned.
