His run will have lasted five days. The detainee from the Osny remand center (Val-d’Oise) who escaped on Tuesday, December 21, was arrested on Sunday, December 26, Franceinfo learned from police sources close to the investigation. He was arrested in Düsseldorf (Germany) with his accomplice, who is also his companion, according to these same sources. This detainee had escaped during a transfer between the prison and the Pontoise hospital.
On December 21, this detainee mutilated his arm in his cell. He was then transferred by the fire brigade to the hospital, located 800 meters away. Three unarmed prison officers are also present. When the convoy arrives at the entrance to the emergency room, the officers are targeted by gunfire. These come from “at least one accomplice with a long weapon”, according to the public prosecutor of Val-d’Oise. The detainee manages to escape with his accomplice in a vehicle. An officer was slightly injured in the back by the shots.
An investigation was quickly opened for “escape in an organized gang” and “attempted murder of a person holding public authority”. It is entrusted to the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police. The prosecution then opens a judicial investigation, Friday, December 24. The National Fugitive Search Brigade and the Versailles judicial police were then left with the investigation. The man had been the subject of an Interpol notice since his escape, French investigators sensing a departure abroad.
Louis F., the escaped inmate, is 28 years old. He had been in pre-trial detention at Osny remand center since October 1, 2021, as part of an investigation for “murder”. Already convicted of traffic offenses and aggravated acts of violence, Louis F. is also suspected of “rape with kidnapping”, in Yerres (Essonne) in 2019, according to information from France Televisions.
