From Tuesday, May 2, the train des primeurs is running again. This historic freight line transports, between Perpignan and the Rungis market, in refrigerated wagons, pallets of fruit and vegetables. For several weeks, he had been stopped due to the strike against the pension reform.

In the aisles of the Rungis market (Val-de-Marne), fruits and vegetables will finally be able to return by rail. The primeurs train is back after almost two months of stoppage. This train leaves from Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales) to arrive at Rungis with on board many foodstuffs placed in refrigerated wagons. With the strikes at the SNCF, it had to be stopped. The train provides five connections per week during the primeur season, namely from November to July.

3,000 fewer trucks

It had been relaunched by the Government in 2021, after more than two years of shutdown. The lack of customers was blamed. This link would represent approximately 3,000 fewer trucks each year. On the other hand, some criticize the obsolescence of the equipment. From 2025, this train of primeurs will be replaced by a rail motorway which must embark trucks on trains.
